Henri, the Existentialist Cat, May 1, 2013
This review is from: Henri, le Chat Noir: The Existential Musings of an Angst-Filled Cat (Hardcover)
Like millions of other fans, I found Henri on YouTube. If you have not yet seen his videos, please do it before buying the book so you can understand the heart and soul of Henri. He looks like an ordinary housecat, but no no. Henri is French, an Existentialist who quotes such as Sartre, and he’s a Philosopher. He tends to be morose and hide from the world to embrace his ennui.

Please be sure to see the videos on Henri visiting “Le Vet” and best of all….Henri enduring Halloween!

Now we have Henri in our homes, in the form of a very special book. Don’t expect a book of cuteness. Henri is deep and he does not suffer fools lightly (especially Will Braden, the thieving filmmaker who made him famous). But that’s what’s so endearing.

The book, like his videos, has black and white photos. The quotes are perfect Henri. Deep and delightful. But I wonder why he does not speak in French for the book, with English in subtitles. Be sure to put “Henri” on a special place in your bookshelf. Preferably with a book of philosophy.

This review is from: Henri, le Chat Noir: The Existential Musings of an Angst-Filled Cat (Hardcover)
It is reason to celebrate: Henri has been freed from the manipulation and deceit of he who is known as “The Thieving Filmmaker” (who has taken it upon himself to shamelessly, opportunistically glom onto Henri’s wisdom and insight and attempt to profit from him).

This tome is wonderfully crafted. You can feel Henri’s attention to details within. The photography aptly captures Henri in his states of ennui. We are even given a glimpse into his life as a kitten, when his eyes – while opened wide – at the time were not truly “open”. Until now.

The world should avail itself of the knowledge and sagacity inside the book, which demands page-by-page reflection, so that the reader can truly absorb Henri’s vision and discernment.

I loved this book. I hope that Henri will once again – between needed time to sleep – grace the public with his signature malaise.

This book changed my life. I smile all the time now.

I am an Henri-worshipper. I even begrudgingly like the white imbecile!
I swallowed this beautiful book whole. And grinned the whole time.
It is written much like the videos featured on Youtube. The photographs of Henri are very good. Of course, anything Henri does is great by me. I even got his calendar.
