Caroline’s Cats Electric Rotating Butterfly Cat Toy

Disclaimer: Kitties Blue received one blue Caroline’s Cats Electric Rotating Butterfly cat toy free of charge in exchange for our fair and honest review. I received no additional renumeration.

If you ask Kitties Blue, this is the best cat toy ever invented. And I agree. However, I do have one small complaint. It only runs for five minutes then cuts off to save battery life. Unfortunately, Kitties Blue expect me to continue to get out of my chair to turn it on over and over again.

Set Up

The toy is easy and quick to set up. It comes in three pieces: the track base, which contains a catnip ball and a jingle ball, the electronic center where the batteries are installed and the colorful butterfly with streamers on a flexible wire, which snaps onto the top.

It requires three AA batteries, which are not included, but the toy does come with the tiny screwdriver needed to open the battery compartment. An additional wire with butterfly also is included.

The Rotating Butterfly toy is constructed of a durable hard plastic. It comes in three colors, blue, yellow and green. It is available on the Caroline’s Cats website through Shopify as well as at Amazon. A set of three additional butterfly attachments are also available for purchase on both sites.

Play Time

I knew Audrey would love the Butterfly toy, as all interactive toys, television and games for cats on the iPad mesmerize her. And, I was right. She is the first to start playing when I turn it on and definitely the most adept at smacking the butterfly as it flies past her. If you remember playing tether ball as a kid, the Kitties Blue crew remind me of doing so, as they bat the colorful butterfly back and forth between them.

Kitties Blue range in age from two to 13 years, and six of the eight are enjoying the toy. Our two resident, anti-social, couch potatoes, Lisbeth and Calista Jo, have not tried it.

Even Sawyer has been participating in the play sessions. This surprised me as he is afraid of anything that moves suddenly or makes an unexpected sound. You can hear the whirring noise from the butterfly if you turn the sound up on the videos. It is not very loud and does not seem to bother him.

When Raleigh decides to join in, I am unable to turn the toy back on when it shuts off, as that causes him to run away. However, he does not seem to mind. He is totally happy batting the catnip and jingle balls around the base track.

So, Caroline’s Cats Butterfly toy is actually two toys in one, with the rotating butterfly as well as the track balls.

In Conclusion

Kitties Blue and I recommend this toy. The six who have played with it each give Caroline’s Cats Butterfly toy four paws up. I give it five stars. When I need to purchase a gift for the cats of friends, this will definitely be at the top of my list.
